bed time

ugg...im hating bed time these days...riley seems to be trying to figure out his limits with dan and i

he fights bed time (since being back from hawaii), screams and cries over bedtime, cries for daddy-then when daddy tries to put him to bed he cries for mommy. so last night i pulled out the pack and play and put him in it after getting fed up with the fight, he cried for like 5 minutes and then was out. tonight it was the same thing but dan was not here-he had gone to the gym. when riley would not lie down i pulled out the pack and play, he immediately ran to his bed, cried, and said night night...but then i lied down next to him to get him to fully calm down and was rubbing his back, he sat up and got up to play, so back into the pack and play he went. after like 5 minutes of crying he was out...seriously...im so so sick of this!

swimming

wow, i really am horrible at this!

today was rileys introduction to swimming lessons...it was just a orientation lesson, our real lessons start june 2nd...not your typical swim lessons (definitely not american red cross or swim america lessons--yes both i have taught and this is not them! not at all, but i did think about asking if they want/need another teacher, hehe)

riley loves swimming! he loved the lesson we got today and really did very well

the lessons are from swimbabes, they teach survival skills first and swimming skills (stroke) after
so he will learn to jump into the water (fully clothed eventually) and float on his back until an adult comes to save him or until he reaches the side of the pool and can get out himself (that might be a reach, but if he got to stairs i can see him being able to figure it out to get out himself)
